Pastor Corey Widmer on his last official Sunday as one of our co-pastors reads the scripture and comments on how we must join the apostle Paul in knowing only one thing: Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And then Pastor Don Coleman exhorts us in following that pattern in our walk before our God. The video of the sermon will be available on the EEF Youtube Page
Luke 24:25-27 (ESV):
And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (ESV):
And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Galatians 6:14 (NRSV):
May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NLT):
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
