We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to head up MEAL COORDINATION for June-August, and then September-December! Your job will be recruiting the folks who serve our amazing meals after large gatherings on Sunday evenings — it’s a FANTASTIC way to serve the East End community in a vital places of fellowship for us! Part-Time EEF Project Manager

EEF has received funding from the Third Presbyterian Church capital campaign to be used specifically for facilities related improvements. We plan to renovate the former barbershop which is currently attached to the EEF offices and classrooms. We are in need of a project manager with experience in building or residential renovations to oversee this renovation. This position will best be filled by a person with administrative expertise. Adoption Rally this Saturday

This Saturday there will be an adoption rally at Grove Avenue Baptist Church to get Christians together for the sake of the kids in VA Foster Care. The event will be full of inspiration and information for potential parents to learn about the process of Foster care and adoption. Agencies will be present to connect with potential foster parents if interested.

April 29: No Large Gathering! Connecting with the Church of Church Hill

On April 29 we will not have our normal EEF worship service. Instead, we are encouraging everyone in EEF to attend worship at a local congregation in our neighborhood. The purpose of this is to experience different forms of worship, to build relationships with neighborhood congregations that have been here far longer than EEF, and to connect with the broader work of God in our neighborhood.

What church should you attend? If you have a friend of neighbor in the neighborhood that is part of a local church, we would recommend that you go to their church with them. Otherwise, we have contacted several local churches that we have relationships with and let them know to expect EEFers on April 29. Places and service times are below. You might consider going with your whole community group to one of the churches below.

Keep in mind a few things as you attend worship in another congregation:

You are not going to observe worship. This is not a field trip! You are going to worship with God’s people in another context.
Have a spirit of respect for others’ differences and traditions. Know that there may be significant differences in forms of worship. The service may be much longer or shorter, much more formal or more free than you are used to.
Have an attitude of readiness to receive. Be prepared for God to surprise you as you learn something new about Him or see worship expressed to Him differently.
If you have kids, remember that the church you are visiting may not have childcare the way you are used to or may not have it at all.
Instead of waiting for people to greet you, be proactive about greeting them!
Pray for blessing and grace for the congregation.

Forty Days of Prayer

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, beginning the forty day period sometimes called “Lent” that leads up to Easter. We are continuing our annual tradition of coming together for forty days of prayer during that time, using the Seek God for the City prayer tool. Please join us if you can beginning Wed Feb 22 every M-F from 5:30-6:30pm. Even if you can only come for 5 minutes, come and seek God for our city together!
