Forty Days of Prayer

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, beginning the forty day period sometimes called “Lent” that leads up to Easter. We are continuing our annual tradition of coming together for forty days of prayer during that time, using the Seek God for the City prayer tool. Please join us if you can beginning Wed Feb 22 every M-F from 5:30-6:30pm. Even if you can only come for 5 minutes, come and seek God for our city together!

2012 Urban Songwriting Summer Internship

EEF is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for our 2012 Urban Worship Songwriting Summer Internship. This eight-week intensive program invites students to live in Church Hill for 8 weeks this summer while they develop their musical giftings and deepen their understanding of congregational worship in the historic East End of Richmond. The intern study will consist of three areas of focus: biblical theology and exposition, a historical overview of worship practices in the western church, and a historical survey of African American music. The intern participants will spend the remainder of the time writing songs, rehearsing music, and planning worship for a congregation in the urban context. Application Requirements:

Fill out the Online Application

Upload audio (mp3, etc) and/or video (youtube, vimeo, etc) samples demonstrating songwriting and musical ability on the Upload Form.

Have someone who is familiar with your character, work ethic, and musical ability fill out the Reference Form.

Turn in all forms by April 15, 2012

Jan 29: Following Jesus into the Neighborhood

This Sunday we are doing something a little different! Rather than our normal worship service, we will be meeting at 4pm at the Robinson and we will then “scatter” all over the neighborhood to love and serve our neighbors. Over 10 community groups have planned get-togethers and events to reach out to our neighbors with friendship and the love of Christ. If you are not in a community group, just plan to come and join one of the happenings! Here is a link to all the things going on. Look forward to seeing you Sunday!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Dec 24. 6:30pm Christmas Eve Service at Third Presbyterian Church, 600 Forest Ave. Pastor Corey will be preaching. Family friendly service, child care available for kindergarten and under.

Dec 25. 4pm. 2nd Annual EEF Christmas Children’s Pageant! Children who are participating should be at the Robinson at 2:30pm for costumes and rehearsal! Please email Mary Kay at marykayavula@yahoo.com if your child plans to participate.

Lessons and Carols Christmas Service this Sunday

This Sunday Dec 18 we are having a “Lessons and Carols” Christmas service at our normal 4pm time at the Robinson theater. Come out to sing, worship, and hear the story of Jesus coming among us and his promise to come again.

Bless Richmond Info for EEF and Mid-Size on Sunday, November 20th

Sunday, November 20th is a big day for EEF! We will be having our Mid-Size gathering and we will be also joining along with the Bless Richmond worship service.

Our Mid-Size Gathering will be on Sunday, November 20th from 12.30-2.30 at Leigh Street Baptist Church. Lunch and childcare will be provided. Please R.S.V.P. to ashley.mejias@eastendfellowship.org by Thursday, November 17th, with your plans to attend, how many lunches you will need, and whether or not you will need childcare. Please include all information in your R.S.V.P. as arrangements for lunch and childcare are made in advance.
On Sunday, November 20, there will be NO LARGE GATHERING — instead, we will be joining with congregations across the city in worship and prayer at Bless Richmond! Bless Richmond is a regional gathering of congregations to give thanks, pray for the city, and feed the hungry, and East End Fellowship is excited to participate in this move of God’s Kingdom in our city. Bless Richmond will be at U-Turn Sports Performance Academy, 2101 Maywill Street, Richmond, VA, 23230. The service will begin at 6 pm and will run until 7.30 — seating is LIMITED, SO ARRIVE EARLY!!
If you’d like to carpool, please meet at the Robinson Theater at 4.15 pm on Sunday, November 20th. We will have pizza available. We will organize into cars and will leave promptly at 4.45 pm! Please be on time!
